How to add a Calendar block to the Page Editor

Gadget and Insert Blocks

Calendars are useful for managing any upcoming events without overloading your website visitor with too much information. The Calendar tool in the CMS allows you to separate Calendars into different categories and link events to external pages or documents. 1. Add from Page Blocks When you are in the Page Editor, click Add under Page Blocks and then from under the Gadget and Inserts section, click on Calendar and then Create. 2. Adding a Standard Calendar block This will add a Standard Calendar block into the Page Editor, right-click on the block to bring up the Options pop-up. To ensure that the correct events, created in the Calendar Manager, appear in the Calendar, you must select exactly the same Group and Categories as when you inputted the event. 3. Adjusting the additional options To adjust how the names of the days and months appear, select from the Calendar type drop-down e.g. Standard will display them in full whereas Ultra Compact will only show the first letter of the day/month (see the Calendar below). Extra Tip You can also add links to external websites, pages on your site or document downloads. These appear as an I symbol in the event block. 4. Adding an Event to the Calendar Manager Firstly, access the CMS system and open the Calendar Manager, this will have the Sub Management Tool icon beside it instead of the Folder icon. Once the pop-up has been opened either select the day of the event or the New Event button to create an event. Select a Start and Finish date, Title and Description. You can also add a link to an asset or internal/external link by copy and pasting the path into the Link Asset to Event field. Click Save, then Exit when finished. If you need several Calendars for different types of events use the Group Name, Category Name and Category Value fields to organise events so they only appear on certain Calendars.
