Metadata is the information contained in a webpage that helps search engines recognise its relevance. It is important to your business because it helps search providers catalogue the webpages accordingly so that they are found in a keyword search.

1. Accessing the Edit Meta pop-up Under the Special title on the Page Editor toolbar, click on Meta. This will open the pop-up and display a list of various editable meta items. 2. Writing the Metadata Title  The title of a webpage is very important as it helps to identify the page’s relevance and is what first appears in a search engine result. It is important to include the main keywords in the title. Writing the Metadata Description     The Meta Description should be a short, compelling narrative informing the user on what they can expect to find on the page. The descriptions should also be written in complete sentences. Never include your business contact details in the description as this can deter visitors from clicking onto your website. Keep the description within its 159-character limit and try to highlight what hasn’t already been represented in the title. SEO gets your business noticed. Writing the Metadata Keywords Meta keywords and phrases provide search engines with further clarity on the pages content. In the Meta Keyword field, enter in relevant keywords or phrases for that webpage. These need to be listed and separated by a comma with no spaces, in order of importance and keyword frequency. Keep the keywords within its 600-character limit. Adding and deleting meta items In the edit meta pop-up, you can also add and delete meta items. Click on the Add Meta Item, this will add an empty field where you can enter your meta tags. Simply press the Delete button to remove any unwanted meta items. Remember to click Save Changes once you are complete.
